Russia: Nuclear Iran Threatens Europe!

Russia has denied Western accusations that Iran is a military threat to Europe, and illustrate such concerns as unfounded.

Russian President's special envoy to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, on Thursday (28 / 7) rejected the claim that pioneered the United States against Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

"Moscow is actively supporting the efforts of Iran to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and Tehran do not have any nuclear weapons that would threaten any country," Rogozin said, quoted by IRNA as represented on Thursday (28 / 7).

Russian officials reaffirmed Moscow's stance as a reaction to Washington's insistence related missile systems in Eastern Europe near the Russian border to counter possible missile threats from Iran and North Korea to Europe.

Russia has long opposed the controversial plan, arguing that the missile system in the "backyard" is not aimed at securing European allies, but effective intended to threaten Russia.

Moscow calls for joint control of Eastern Europe, and said the purpose of anti-missile shield system is to encircle Russia. But Washington refused to share responsibility in protecting NATO member states with third parties. (IRIB / PH)
