Metamorphosis is a developmental process involving biological changes in animal physical appearance and / or structure after birth or hatching. Physical changes that occur as a result of cell growth and differentiation of cells that are radically different.
Some insects, amphibians, molluscs, crustaceans, echinoderms and tunicates undergo a process of metamorphosis, which usually (but not always) accompanied by changes in habitat or behavior.
